DOUG: It’s been a fantastic year here at D S Simon Media, and we have you to thank. Our partners and our clients who’ve placed their trust in us to help them with their communications needs. A special thanks also goes out to the great team that we’ve assembled here, and the way we honor them each year is by making a donation to each of their specific charities that they feel are important. Take a look.
SUCHI: Happy holidays! This year I’m supporting the Animal Care Centers of NYC insured ACC, the place where I adopted my first cat, Bobo. Their mission to rescue animals and find them loving homes has a very special place in my heart, and I’m so grateful that I can support them this year on behalf of D S Simon Media.
MIKE: The organization that I’m supporting this year and that my family and I support year-round, is the Crossroads Community Center. It’s a great organization that helps with lodging and meals for people that are trying to get back on their feet. So, this holiday season, always think about those that are less fortunate than you. And that’s what the Crossroads Community Center does.
LAUREN: The charity that I’m supporting this year is the Tunnels to Towers Foundation. It was created after the tragedy of 9/11, and they have various programs that help offer assistance and aid to veterans, families of fallen first responders, gold star families, and much more.
MARC: The organization I’m choosing to donate to is the Physicians for Human Rights. They work to help out persecuted people all over the world, and right now their work is needed more than ever.
SARAH: The charity that I’m choosing to support this holiday season is MS Focus. The foundation provides programs and support services to those affected by MS to help them maintain their health, safety, sufficiency, and personal well-being. Funds raised by the foundation go directly towards services designed to improve the quality of life for individuals with MS.
JAMES: This year, the organization I’m supporting is the Planned Parenthood Action Fund because abortion rights are more under attack than ever before.
SARA: Hunger should be a thing of the past, but conflicts, economic inequality, climate change and displacement make it that more than 300 million people are still acutely hungry. This holiday, I am choosing to support the World Food Programme. It is the world’s largest humanitarian organization, saving lives in emergencies and using food assistance to build a pathway to peace, stability, and prosperity for people recovering from conflicts, disasters, and the impact of climate change.
ERIC: This year, the charity I’ve chosen is the Lustgarten Foundation, the world’s largest private funder of pancreatic cancer research in the world. I’ve chosen them in honor of my friend Hector Feliz, who passed away from pancreatic cancer back in 2018.
ELIZABETH: The charity I’ve chosen to support this year is the Guide Dog Foundation. The foundation breeds, raises, and trains guide dogs to empower people who have disabilities. The guide dogs allow enhanced mobility and increased independence to those who are legally blind. The organization has been a big part of my life, and during the past five years, I’ve been a volunteer for the program and have fostered, trained, and raised puppies who are on their way to become guidance service dogs. Wishing everybody a happy and safe holidays and a healthy new year.
JOSH: The charity I’m selecting this year is the Andrew McDonough B+ Foundation. They help families and children fight childhood cancer by raising money through events on college campuses.
COLLEEN: This year, I’m proud to support the National Marrow Donor Program. Blood cancers have deeply impacted my family, and we’ve seen how a simple swab can offer hope and lifesaving treatment to those in need of stem cells. Donating is simple, and you too can make a difference. Learn more and register at nmdp.org.
MICHAEL O’DONNELL: Hey everyone! This year I’m proud to be donating to the American Heart Association. Heart disease impacts so many lives around the world, and supporting their work helps fund research, education, and life-saving treatments.
MARISA: My charity this year is Misericordia. Since 1921, misericordia is a continuum of care and a network of services maximizing potential for people with mild to profound developmental disabilities. On their 37-acre Chicago campus, they provide a wide variety of programs for more than 600 children and adults from diverse racial, religious, and socioeconomic backgrounds. 20% of their residents come from poverty or have no families and our wards of the state. As a Catholic charity of the Archdiocese of Chicago, they provide a quality of life and dignity for their residents. While it’s operated by the Sisters of Mercy, so many of these wonderful programs and quality of life is made possible through private fundraising.
DANTE: This year, I’m proud to support the City Parks Foundation, an incredible organization that transforms over 300 parks and public spaces across New York City into vibrant hubs for sports, arts, education and community programs. Reaching more than 275,000 New Yorkers annually, their work brings life and connection to our urban spaces, making a lasting impact on communities.
KATELYN: This year, the charity I chose to support is the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. The Breast Cancer Research Foundation is dedicated to ending breast cancer by advancing the world’s most promising research. Most people who have developed breast cancer have no family history of the disease, but we know that’s not always the case. A person’s family history, inheritance, race, and ethnicity are all important risk factors that have long been a part of the research agenda. The more progress researchers are able to make, the better doctors are able to predict who is at risk and what can be done to prevent cancer’s onset.
MICHAEL FARR: The charity I’m supporting this year as the Hudson Valley LGBTQ+ Community Center in Kingston, New York. They advocate for equity and opportunity, and they also celebrate our diverse experiences. The community center also offers programs that promote health and wellness, counseling, and many other programs and services that are really making a difference in the Hudson Valley.
SUE: This year, I’ve chosen the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society in honor of my brother in law, in hopes that there is a cure one day soon.
LYNSEY: My grandmother, Shirley Kaplowitz, was an art teacher. I had the privilege of witnessing firsthand how arts education can transform student’s lives. This year, I am honored to support Free Arts NYC so that the next generation will have access to art programs one-on-one mentorship, scholarships, and internships.
ISABELL: This year, as in years past, I am supporting Romania Animal Rescue, which is a nonprofit organization committed to saving the lives of stray cats and dogs in Romania.
RONNIE: The charity I chose this year is to Be Like Brit Foundation, which is named after my college classmate Britney Gengel, who died in the Haiti earthquake. The Be Like Brit Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to serving the children of Haiti by establishing a safe, nurturing, and sustainable orphanage.
DOUG: Three of the charities my wife and I are involved in include Riverdale Immigrant Services, which helps teach english language to recent legal immigrants to the New York City area. Planned Parenthood, especially given that two of our family members are expecting their first child. It’s very important. And of course, the National Head Start Association, which is invested in children’s education, so important. In 2025, communications is going to be more important than it’s ever been. And on our behalf, I’d like to wish you, happy holidays!
