Germany’s Most Followed Live Video Expert: Alex Khan

Nicholas Kost met up with Alex Khan, Germany’s most followed live video expert, at Social Media Marketing World 2018 and spoke about… live video! Alex led a session on techniques to engage and build an audience via live streaming. We discussed what he’d be talking about during his session along with some best tips and practices while using live video.

NICHOLAS KOST: Hi how’s it going? This is Nicholas Kost from the Social Media Marketing World 2018 conference and I’m joined here with Germany’s most followed live video expert Alex Kahn. Thank you very much for joining.

ALEX KHAN: Well thank you for having me.

NICHOLAS KOST: All right. So Alex is set to talk hear in a little bit about engaging people over live video. Can you give me a little snippet about what you’re going to talk about?

ALEX KHAN: Sure. So what we talk about today is like giving a couple of processes, a couple of strategies in how you pre-promote your stream. What do you have to do in the first minute. How you cross promote everything. How you’ll leverage your audience. How you drive them to make them your shares give you more shares and what are topics any business can use leverage to leverage the power of live video.

NICHOLAS KOST: Awesome sounds very cool. I expect to attend this session. Can you give us the most important strategy if you had to pick one? What would you say that would be?

ALEX KHAN: Well most people are focusing on the live viewers in the first minutes. So they wait until viewers jump in their stream and they don’t talk for the first 30 seconds but they forget totally about the replay viewers which watch it in the first second. So what I love to do is I welcome the replay viewers then I introduce myself then I introduce a topic. And then I ask an easy to answer question once people are tuning in, something like where are you viewing from? Or alternatively you can go that route and ask people do you hear me loud and clear? Just press like and let me know if you can hear me fine. And people press like and Facebook thinks wow that’s such an interesting stream. And then you take it from there.

NICHOLAS KOST: Amazing. Well you’re obviously doing something right. So I really appreciate you taking the time to do this and enjoy the rest of the conference.
