Isabel Pena Alfaro, Managing Supervisor at Fleishman Hillard was Named a PRSA-NY 2018 15 Under 35 Winner

Isabel Pena Alfaro, Managing Supervisor at Fleishman was interviewed by Nicholas Kost, Influencer Marketing Account Executive at D S Simon Media. They spoke about Isabel’s big career break, advice she offers to people starting out and the best advice she ever received from a mentor or older colleague.

NICK: Hi I’m Nicholas Kost, Influencer Marketing Account Executive at D S Simon Media and I’m here with Isabel Pena Alfaro from Fleishman-Hillard. Who’s just been recognized as a 15 Under 35 winner. Thank you so much for joining us and congratulations. Can you maybe share a key moment in your career that led to success?

ISABEL: You know I don’t I don’t think there’s a key moment that has led me to success, I think its been a series of moments. Like the daily work, the daily dedication to the team, and to learning, that has lead me to learn and to succeed.

NICK: Wonderful, how about maybe some advice for the younger generation that’s starting out in the industry?

ISABEL: I would say to always be curious and to bring a lot of energy to the work that you are doing. If you are always wanting to learn more and expand what you are doing, it is a really good way to to keep going, learning, and getting advice from team members.

NICK: Stay curious folks. And then maybe something you learned from a colleague or a mentor that’s really helped along the way in your career?

ISABEL: I was getting frustrated, at one time, and sought advice from a mentor and he heard me out and he said ” Isabel, don’t get distracted on the shiny object. Focus on what matters.” It resonated with me because  there is so many distractions specially in PR, there is a lot of glitz and glam, but at the end of the day, I think the team is what matters and the work is what matters. I think that is what eventually gets you to the next step.
